Flexifind is a UX-Design student project supporting students, nomads and flexible gig-workers in a rapidly growing gig-economy.

Project Overview

Scenario

“Another type of person is looking for work: the digital nomad. These people work remotely using their laptops and the Internet. Their jobs are not dependent on a location. They might work as writers, designers, or video editors. Often their work is project-based rather than full-time and permanent.”

Problem Statement

There is a need for a fast, reliable, and mobile-friendly way for students, creative freelancers, and digital nomads to discover vetted gigs on short notice. The current state of their gig discovery is fragmented, whether that is through Discord, social media channels, or a generic gig service. All of these avenues result in lost opportunities, unreliable communication, the devaluation of human work in an AI-driven society, and possible financial stress based on delayed payment or uncertainty.

The result

A mobile-based gig-finding platform designed to connect freelancers wih short-term opportunities across various industries, such as creative services, tech, etc.  The app ensured trust and includes features like a gig-finding feed with a search and filter function, calendar sync with availability toggles, a mutual trust system, and fast and secure payments.

Recommendations for iteration

  • Get a more diverse user group for survey and interviews, include people that would represent the employer or client
  • Add more features for primary persona:
  • Share profile option
  • Portfolio import feature
  • Upload CV PDF option
  • Change the gallery feature by adding it to home page for visibility to visitors
